The Comet
THE Comet is the paper of the people in Stevenage, North Hertfordshire and Mid Bedfordshire.
Named as the best free newspaper in the country, The Comet has always been acclaimed for its quality journalism and integrity and often reflects the passions of the people who read it.
The Comet prides itself on reporting the news in the towns and villages where the paper circulates and is always quick to lead campaigns to help people and communities get justice.
Not only has the newspaper, which has been in existence since May 1971, been voted the best free newspaper in the UK, but remains the dominant free in the stable of Archant, one of the country's largest publishers.
A panel of national media judges recently described the Comet as: "A powerhouse of a newspaper - in the fast lane and accelerating. Clearly the newspaper in its area. The Comet has achieved good growth and has an excellent local feel."
This free weekly title has three editions - Hitchin, Letchworth & Baldock and Stevenage, with around 150,000 readers each week.
