The Herts Advertiser has always supported charities in general terms through the publicity they give both prior to events and afterwards.
In 2004 they decided to adopt Grove House day hospice in St Albans as their special charity and have supported their 10k Challenge race for several years. They also support the Rotary Club's Annual Charity Cycle Ride.
Ongoing campaigns include Off the Rails (campaigning for commuters in the district), Put the Brakes on Freight! (fighting against a rail freight depot in Park Street) and Bring Back Our Cinema
